Orthotists design many types of artificial devices used to support or correct the function of a limb or torso, while Prosthetists fabricate artificial limbs to replace missing limbs or those too damaged to be repaired. Prosthetists and Orthotists are employed in hospitals, rehabilitation centres or private facilities to design, fabricate and fit prosthetic (artificial limbs) and orthotic appliances (braces or splints/supports).
