A research study entitled Internationally Educated Health Professionals (IEHPs) in Atlantic Canada: Why They Come, Why They Stay, and the Challenges They Face, is now underway. This study is one of four parallel studies now underway in the Atlantic Provinces, with the financial support of the IEHP Atlantic Connection (http://IEHPatlanticconnection.ca). The PEI segment is being undertaken with the full collaboration of the PEI Association of Newcomers to Canada, the PEI Health Research Institute and the PEI Health Sector Council. The study supports Health Canada’s mandate to deliver on the First Ministers’ 10 year plan to reduce wait times and increase the supply of health professionals in the Canadian health care system.
The purpose of this project is to better understand the concers and challenges that internationally educated heatlh professionals have about coming to and staying on Prince Edward Island. This is being done initially through a web-based, anonymous questionnaire survey. It is available in English and French.
